I Love To Dig

I love to dig. I really love to dig.

And I love to do it outside and inside.

If Daddy is outside, he lets me go to town. I get down and dirty in the mud or dirt and then Mommy has a fit when I come in, if she is around. Daddy and I have been able to clean me up quick and slip past her on more than one occasion.

In the summer I love to check out what is in the garden. I am small enough to jump from pot to pot and dig just a little, and maybe even grab a cherry tomato! Mommy does not like that either. But I have seen her laugh a few times so it must be okay!

In the winter I dig in the snow. Daddy clears a path from me to go to the bathroom, but I love to jump on top of the snow, away from the path, and dig in it. I love to jump on top of the snow and fall in it. I come in the house soaking wet. Mommy wraps me up in a big fluffy towel.

I dig on the couch. The couches are old so it is okay. But Mommy and Daddy put a blanket down on my favorite couch for digging. So I am really digging on the blanket. I dig as Mommy says "Like he is trying to dig a hole to China" You can hear the scraping of the fabric as I dig dig dig. My nails are not that sharp though so nothing rips. But once I get into dig mode, it is very hard to get my attention. I hear my name called several times. Why don't Mommy and Daddy understand that I have to get this digging done? It is important and necessary work!

I dig on the big bed too.

And I have my own little blue fuzzy bed with a dogs head that I dig in.

I did on the computer chair. Which I like to jump up on it brings me up higher and closer to Mommy and Daddy. Especially when they come in the side door because that is where the computer an computer chair are. I run in circles and dig until they notice me. But sometimes I dig for the heck of it.

I dig when I am mad. I mostly get mad when Mommy and Daddy do not understand what I want, when I want to play and they are done for the day, and when I am trying to get their attention. When I am doing mad digging, I am usually almost doing a headstand and digging because I am doing it so furiously. Or I am completely on my side digging in the air, sometimes catching the fabric of the couch or bed.

I dig when I am tired. I try my best to tell Mommy and Daddy that I have had enough and have to get in the big bed and sleep but they get busy. So I drag out my blue bed and I start digging in it. I usually hear something to the effect of "Boy he is really tired"

Mommy said I should see a doggie psychiatrist.

But plain and simple, I like to dig! You dig?

Looks like me in the snow. This dog gets it!

If this poodle was black, it would be me in the yard!

What I Did Today

Yep, I slept all day. It was not very eventful. I watched Mommy as she read, blogged, and cleaned up the house. I am just waiting for Daddy to come home. I am sure we will do something fun tomorrow! I heard Daddy say the Christmas decorations are coming out!!! I love them. I love to eat pine needles and drink from the bottom of the tree. Hey, if you do not want me to drink it, do not put water there!

I Went Out To Meet The UPS Man!!!

Today there was a knock on the front door. Mommy and I were in bed upstairs at the time. I barked and ran down the stairs. Mommy followed behind me.

She scooted my back with her foot and opened the door.

HEY! The UPS Guy!!

I know him! Mommy always picks me up before she opens the front door. But today she did not. I guess she wanted me to get the package. So I ran out the front door and down the walkway to almost to the sidewalk when I heard my name being called by the UPS Guy. Why is he calling me? Then I heard Mommy call me....a few times....then she yelled "NINO STOP" and I froze on the spot.

She came down the front walk in her socks and scooped me up.

Then as we turned back toward the house, I saw it. WOW! What a big package!! I wonder what is in it!? Mommy let the UPS guy bring in the big heavy box. And then we both said goodbye to the UPS guy.

I sniffed the big box. Hmmm...definitely not food. But I sure would like to see what is in there. I love when the UPS guy comes because it puts Mommy in a good mood. Well Mommy is mostly always in a good mood but getting a package sure helps things out. And anything she gets I sniff and lick to make sure that it is okay for Mommy to have.

I kind of get the feeling I should not have run out the front door. But I would not have gone far. I promise! Maybe Mommy did not know that. The last time I ran out the side door, her AND Daddy told me stories of dogs who run out their door and down the street and are never heard from again.

But I get so excited when someone is at the door I forget!

All that excitement made me and Mommy tired so I am going to take a little nap now.

I cannot wait to see what is in that big box. I wonder if it is for me?

This is pretty close to how big it is. Maybe a bit wider.

My Day Out

I was very busy on Monday, I went to the salon for a haircut!

I go about every six weeks or else I get very fuzzy.

It is great. Mommy and Daddy drop me off and I get to see all my human friends as well as my animal friends. I am a social dog so I get to be down on the floor with my other friends who are dogs. I get to play, I get to go for a walk, and my favorite part - I get a great bath!!!

It seems like I am there for hours, and I have to admit sometimes I worry that Mommy or Daddy will forget about to come back for me. But they never do. Mommy and Daddy were busy Monday so Grandma picked me up instead. I am always happy to see Grandma! She fed me and then I went right in my fuzzy blue bed. And I waited and waited. Then Mommy and Daddy came home!!!

It is a long tough day at the salon catching up with all my friends so when Mommy went right up to bed, I followed. Mommy was so tired, maybe she went to the salon Monday too! I went up to bed with her and curled up in a little ball and slept.

I smell really good and Mommy made a big fuss over me. Hopefully Tuesday will be more of a normal day.

I have a special fall leave bandanna on. I look and feel great!!

My bandanna looks like this picture. I am already excited about my next salon visit where I get my Christmas bandanna

Football Sundays at My House

Football Sundays at my house are the best days ever! Mommy and Daddy pull the couch away from the wall (it is too far back even to see our big screen television) to push it closer to the television. And they sit side by side instead of one of them on the couch and one of them on the recliner. And there is plenty of room for me in the middle.

The activity stats early when Daddy leaves the house in the morning. Sometimes early, sometimes close to game time. I have heard Mommy and Daddy talk and Daddy goes over to Grandpa's house to help him out. I take the opportunity to sleep because I know it is going to be a big and fun day. I get tackled a lot!

So Daddy comes home, usually with food, which he puts away. I love to stick my nose in the bags while he is bringing them in from the car. I have to make sure there is nothing dangerous in there! When Daddy gets home, Mommy usually gets up. Sometimes she has breakfast, and sometimes not which is there is a knock on the door then some yummy food comes! That is a highlight of Football Sundays. Sometimes I get chicken, or a piece of pizza, maybe some deli meat. Little pieces of course. I will take anything. Sometimes I put the food on the couch and study it first. That usually draws cries of "Nino why are you doing that? Just eat it" I have to check it out good first before I eat it. I love french fries too!

There is a lot of yelling on Sundays. Some of the words I talked before about Mommy using when she trips over my toys- I recognize a lot of those words on Football Sunday.

Sometimes Mommy watches one game, sometimes two. But my Mommy gets tired. If I am really lucky she watches all three games. Mommy and Daddy on the couch with me in the middle, on a blanket, or sometimes I will sit with Mommy for a while and sometimes I will sit with Daddy for a while in their lap or squished up right next to them, but we are all together all day. That is the best part. If Mommy has to take a nap I go up with her but when she is asleep, I sneak down to see Daddy and sit in his lap.

If I am really lucky, later in the day someone knocks on the door again and more food comes.

I have looked at the television but I cannot figure out what is going on. Mommy says I am a Steelers dog because I am my fur is black. Daddy pointed out because of my white fur on my chest and paw, that I would be more of a Raiders dog. Mommy says Daddy is silly.

Mommy and Daddy leave the couch out. So anything watched on Monday is with all of us together. There is more football on Monday night.

It is exciting and tiring to be up all day. This is me at the end of Football Sunday. Daddy always tells Mommy to look at me and look at my eyes to see how tired I am. Because sometimes I pretend like I can still be up and play. But I come back with the ball to slow. They know.

I look forward to this all week. Mommy and Daddy have no idea how much. I wish every day was Football Sunday!!!

p.s.- Do not tell Daddy, I do like the Pittsburgh Steelers better!
